| | Description: All the ornamentation motifs and details remind us of the wealth of Hindu iconography. The Om lithophane has been created in the same style as the before Lord Ganesha and Buddha lithophanes. The main motive of this lithophane is the symbol of the mantra Om, which has been engraved in both sides of the lithophane (this symbol corresponds to the Devanagari writing system, the alphabet used to write several languages in India, Sanskrit being one of them). Om comes from the Sanskrit and is a sacred or mystical syllable in most Dharmic or Indian religions, specifically Hinduism, Jainism and Mahayana Buddhism. It means union with the Supreme Being, the physical and the spiritual combination. It is the sacred syllable, the first sound of the Almighty, the sound from all the other sounds come from, no matter if they refer to music or language. This is why it is known as the essence of everything As in Lladr lithophanes, it includes a battery-powered LED for illumination, although candles of a fitting size can also be used. Upon turning on the LED or lighting the candle, the transparency of the porcelain makes the light enhance the engravings. | |
