Spode Wildlife Mule Deer Platter
Item Number:  1398018
Dimensions:  17 1/2" Length
Description:  Bison, black bears, and bighorn sheep are just a few of the indigenous North American animals depicted in full color on this stunning Spode dinnerware. Each piece comes in a choice of animal, specifically a mother and young in their natural setting, allowing for a spectacular mix-and-match tabletop. Woodland originally showed a variety of British game birds on its pieces; this is one of many versions showing other wildlife studies. Though the border of Spode's famous 19th-century British Flowers pattern in brown on white lends an autumnal tone, the dinnerware makes a suitable year-round pattern, and the plates are even decoratively hung on walls. Spode, long one of England's most renowned potteries, crafts the extensive collection of durable earthenware, which is conveniently safe for microwave and dishwasher use.

   About the Spode Company
In 1770, Joseph Spode established a small pottery in the village of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. Over the next 30 years, Spode perfected the process of blue underglaze printing from hand-engraved copper plates, which resulted in exquisitely detailed blue-and-white earthenware that is highly collectible today. Spode is also credited with inventing the formula for translucent fine bone china, soon to become an enduring industry standard. Archival engravings and molds allow the Spode company to continue producing favorite historic lines, while also adding new dinnerware and ovenware collections in vibrant contemporary patterns.
